I usually go to Home Depot and find culled wood, back in the far corner of the store. Wood that is marked "cull" is wood that's either not straight or has been cut and the person didn't want the rest of it.
It's usually .51 cents. I buy what I think I could make something out of it later and most of the time get 3 pieces out if it. That's .17 for the Wood base. with a little paint, some vinyl to fit and a few embellishments that are laying around...poof, super easy gift.
